EA FC 26 Complete Clubs Progression System Guide | How to Win during Festival of Football?
Jul 07, 2026Building a squad in EA FC 26 UT mode is certainly enjoyable, but many players are equally drawn to FUT 26 Clubs mode, where you can tailor your own player type and compete alongside friends as a team.
Some players may have joined the game because of World Cup fever. Starting from character creation, let us walk through how you should distribute your attributes and choose the most effective formation.

Archetype
The first step in the game is to select your player's Archetype. This functions as your character class, determining your initial attribute tendencies and the exclusive PlayStyles you can unlock.
If you enjoy attacking, Magician is a strong fit for strikers, CAMs, and wingers. It also grants Finesse Shot+ upon reaching level 30.
For those operating as a CAM, CM, or CDM, Maestro is an excellent choice. It comes with nearly all the top passing-related PlayStyles, greatly enhancing the precision and efficiency of your midfield orchestration.
Spark is designed specifically for speed-oriented wingers or forwards. Later on, it unlocks Quick Step+ style, making it one of the fastest archetypes in the game.
Boss is the most popular defensive archetype, featuring key defensive PlayStyles such as Bruiser, Aerial, Anticipate, and Precision Header.
Progressor is more versatile and can fill roles such as centre back, fullback, CM, CDM, or even CAM, because its PlayStyle slots can be flexibly swapped for passing-oriented ones.
Attribute Allocation
After creating your character, you receive 100 initial attribute points. How you allocate them will significantly affect your early-game experience.
It is advisable to prioritise putting points into Pace. In the early stages, speed is the most important attribute for creating space and compensating for mechanical inexperience. Aim to get your Pace value as close to 80 as possible.
Once you have secured that speed investment, distribute the remaining points roughly evenly across attributes relevant to your position. Avoid pouring all your points into just one or two stats. A well-rounded character without glaring weaknesses is far more practical in the early game than a highly specialised one. As you level up, you will gain more points to refine the details.
Player Progression
Archetype XP
Using Archetype XP will instantly boost a chosen character to around level 38, unlocking a substantial number of attribute points and available PlayStyle slots.
You can obtain Archetype XP from Clubs Store or through Season Pass events and activities. Keep in mind that this is meant for developing a new character and is not enough to take your player to the maximum level.
Club Coins
Unlocking new archetypes requires Club Coins, not FC 26 coins. Currently, the most efficient source of Club Coins is FoF True North Cup event.
This mode uses a short first to three goals format, with each match lasting only one to two minutes, making it an ideal way to farm coins.
Such events typically run for several weeks, so be sure to participate repeatedly before the event ends – this is the fastest way to accumulate your initial funds.
Player PlayStyles
Once you have accumulated some coins and levels, your priority should be unlocking PlayStyles. These special abilities provide a far greater boost to your in-game performance than a few extra base attributes.
As for attributes, continue with the balanced approach. Every stat has its value, so do not sacrifice other areas just to push a single attribute to an extreme. A well-balanced character who can defend, react quickly, and pass accurately will pose a greater threat in team play.
Formation Selection
- 4-2-3-1 (both wide and narrow variants): the wide version adds LM and RM, but the double-CDM foundation remains unchanged.
- 4-3-3 (specific variants): similarly features two CDMs alongside one CM. If you have a CAM, you can let him roam freely, while the wingers provide width.
- 4-2-2-2: two CDMs paired with LAM and RAM, plus two forwards, offering a balanced approach to attack and defence.
Avoid using 4-1-2-1-2 (narrow diamond). This formation crowds the central area too much and leaves the flanks unprotected. Against opponents with wingers or wide midfielders, your central players will be forced to drift wide to cover, leaving huge gaps in the middle that can be easily exploited.
If your team includes bot teammates, be cautious with formations that feature LCM/RCM with high forward runs. AI-controlled players will push too far up the pitch, leaving defensive gaps that are difficult to fill.
Human Players
The defensive performance of AI centre-backs in EA FC 26 can be disastrous, especially against over-the-top through balls, where they struggle to track back effectively. If you can find a human centre-back who reads runs well and covers in time, your defensive stability will improve greatly.
CDM is also a highly scarce position, and it is best filled by a human player. A good CDM should anticipate passing lanes and make interceptions, then quickly distribute the ball to CAM or directly connect with forwards to launch counters.
An excellent human goalkeeper can save many shots that AI keepers would never reach, but good goalkeepers are hard to come by. If you already have human CB and CDM, adding a human goalkeeper is the icing on the cake.
The biggest difference between Pro Clubs mode and UT mode is that you must play like a team. Players cannot operate individually; human players cannot solve everything on their own in FUT 26 Clubs. As long as you and your teammates can establish basic coordination, winning is not particularly difficult.
