EA FC 27 Biggest Changes Yet: Open World, Asian Cup, Liga MX, Camp Nou Return and New PlayStyles

    Jun 08, 2026

As EA Sports gradually releases more information about FC 27, this new title is becoming the most drastically changed and talked-about EA football game in recent years. FC 27 not only brings a wealth of new content but also demonstrates EA's ambition to redefine the series' future direction.

While many features are still in testing and adjustment, the information revealed so far suggests that FC 27 is no longer content with traditional annual roster updates. Instead, it aims to deliver a true upgrade for players through richer licensed content, deeper inter-mode crossover, and a more immersive gaming experience.EA FC 27 Biggest Changes Yet: Open World, Asian Cup, Liga MX, Camp Nou Return and New PlayStyles

If these plans are successfully implemented, FC 27 may have the potential to become the most influential EA football game of the past decade.

    Experience

EA invited a group of content creators and game changers to experience FC 27 early and provide direct feedback to the development team, helping to shape the final version of the game. Theoretically, this is a necessary step; gathering feedback before the official release can prevent many problems and bugs from being carried over to the final version.

However, many players remain skeptical. The reason is simple: these creators' careers are built on FC content, and they have a natural vested interest in FUT 27. Therefore, many players worry that their final evaluations may not be entirely objective.

I believe that if EA FC 27 could invite more ordinary players to participate in testing, it might obtain more genuine and direct feedback. These players, without other vested interests, are often more willing to point out the game's actual problems.

However, creators who have participated in the trial say that FC 27's basic gameplay looks good, with some describing it as a pre-update version of FC 26 and believing that the game's feel has improved compared to the past.

    Asian Cup

EA has reached an official partnership with Asian Cup, which will officially join FC 27. This means that all national teams that have qualified for Asian Cup finals will appear in EA FC 27, including even North Korea.

Currently, it is unclear whether these national teams will receive full licenses, including whether the real player names, ratings, jerseys, and team logos will be fully reproduced.

More teams mean more matchups, greater replayability, and a more realistic international football experience. For fans of national team matches, this is one of the most exciting recent additions to FUT 27.

    Liga MX

Mexican top league, Liga MX, is returning to FC 27. This league has been absent from EA's football games for many years and is one of the most requested additions by players.

Currently, it's confirmed that clubs are submitting official resources to EA, including team logos, jerseys, and related licensed materials. This means the return of Liga MX is practically a done deal. For fans of Mexican football, this is undoubtedly great news.

    Open World

Undoubtedly, Open World mode is currently the most discussed topic in FC 27. FIFA 27 will launch a brand new Open World mode. You can freely explore a city and coexist with other online players in the same lobby.

You can freely explore the city, go to the barbershop to change your look, buy clothes and personal accessories, trade players, and train at the gym. The whole concept is somewhat similar to NBA 2K's The City system.

In the past, FIFA players spent most of their time switching between menus, while the open world mode aims to create a vibrant football community, allowing for immersion. However, this feature currently has issues; according to players who participated in the early FIFA 27 beta, feedback on Open World mode is not particularly positive.

EA is continuously adjusting and optimizing the content, hoping to launch it in time for FC 27. If this feature launches successfully as expected, it could completely change the way FIFA 27 is played.

There's another important reason behind EA's eagerness to launch this mode. GTA 6 is expected to launch shortly after FC 27, and EA is well aware that a large amount of player attention will be drawn to it. Therefore, they need new content that can retain players and encourage them to invest long-term time.

According to currently leaked information, Open World mode will not be a standalone mode; its progress will also affect Pro Clubs and Ultimate Team. Deeper interoperability will be achieved between all FC 27 modes.

However, many players worry that EA might use this to build a larger commercial system, bundling all FUT modes, costumes, and FC 27 Coins together through the open-world mode to drive more spending.

    PlayStyles System

EA FC 27 adds a new tier to PlayStyles. Currently, the system has two tiers: Regular PlayStyle and PlayStyle+. FC 27 will introduce a new, higher tier.

This means the differences between top players will widen further, with high-end player cards having more distinct features and advantages. Previously, there were rumors that EA would completely abandon the existing system and start from scratch, but this is not the case. The existing FIFA game style will be retained; they are simply expanding upon the existing foundation, which is the correct approach.

    Spotify Camp Nou

For Barcelona fans, another exciting piece of news is also coming. Spotify Camp Nou will officially return to FC 27. This will be the first time Camp Nou has appeared in FIFA series since FIFA 16, a full ten years later.

The return of Spotify Camp Nou is primarily because of EA's expanded partnership with La Liga. EA can now directly acquire stadium rights for various clubs through league licensing, and even with the still complexities of club licensing, the stadiums themselves can still appear in FUT 27. The revamped Spotify Camp Nou is expected to be one of the most visually striking stadiums in FC 27.

    New Season Kits

With the new season approaching, the new kit designs for several top teams have been revealed. While kit updates may seem like minor details, for FUT 27, they significantly enhance the atmosphere of the new season, making players feel that this is a truly new title, not just a simple roster update.

Based on the information revealed so far, FC 27 is undoubtedly the most ambitious EA football game in recent years. Whether all the new content will ultimately deliver remains to be seen after the game's official release. But at least on paper, FC 27 has already demonstrated an ambition and change rarely seen in recent years. For players who have long followed EA football games, this may be the most anticipated title in recent years.
