Diablo 4: Season 1 Class Balance Tweaks

Before Diablo 4's release, the developers released a patch to address class balance issues. Released two days before the official release, the patch included nerfs and buffs to various classes.

Barbarians, rogues, and warlocks were nerfed in the patch. Barbarian's Challenging Shout reduces damage reduction per skill level, and Rogue's Dark Shroud reduces Shadow damage reduction per skill level. Warlock's Shimmer damage reduction is now reduced by 2 seconds.

Meanwhile, Druids get some buffs, and Necromancers get a power boost. In fact, 15 of the 16 tweaks made to the Necromancer enhanced their abilities.

The patch also includes bug fixes, with one of the most exciting fixes being an issue where a wizard using Deep Freeze would be permanently stunned when affected by other freezing effects.

Blizzard clarified their rationale for this patch, stating that they want players to feel powerful, but they also wish to class builds and synergy to stay within reason. It's also designed to avoid situations where players take excessive damage for extended periods of time, as this goes against Diablo IV's vision of what to expect from combat.

The patch received mixed reactions from players, some of whom were concerned about the frequency of balance updates, but hopefully, this is a necessary change to maintain the integrity of the game. Players can find the full set of patch notes on Blizzard's website.
