1. Rigid Gear Limits Kill the Thrill of Loot-Hunting

One of the biggest flaws in Diablo 4's gear crafting system is its strict ceiling. Whether it’s a legendary, rare legendary, or even a max-tier ancestral item, all gear is locked to 12 enhancement (or "masterwork") upgrades, offering a flat 25% stat boost. There’s no incentive to chase ultra-rare drops when they’re capped the same as common high-level items.
In contrast, games like Warframe offer continuous progression, where players keep refining their builds with mods, gear sets, and crafting layers. The excitement of acquiring new resources or mods keeps the endgame alive even after hundreds of hours.
To fix this, Diablo 4 should introduce an “Ascension” system where only double or triple ancestral items can continue to upgrade beyond the masterwork cap.
