EA FC 27 July 29 Deep Dive Preview: New Gameplay Features, Smarter AI Defense and Career Mode Overhaul Explained

    Jul 27, 2026

According to the currently released roadmap for FC 27, Deep Dives will be held starting July 29th.

The entire Deep Dives event was divided into two phases: in July and August. EA broke it down mode by mode, showcasing in detail the core improvements based on community feedback. Deep Dive on July 29th focused on in-depth Gameplay details and Career Mode, which is of utmost concern to players.

Based on official announcements and leaked information, let's preview the specific content of these two aspects and their impact on players.

EA FC 27 July 29 Deep Dive Preview: New Gameplay Features, Smarter AI Defense and Career Mode Overhaul Explained

    Gameplay

The first official Gameplay Deep Dives session on July 29th, focusing on FC 27, primarily analyzed the new AI defensive balancing mechanism, Attacking Spatial Awareness, and showcased a more flexible tactical corner kick dynamic control system.

    1. AI Defensive Rebalance

In FC 27, EA significantly weakened the controversial Auto-tackles and Auto-blocks from FC 26, loosening the tight restrictions on defensive formations. The defensive logic shifted entirely towards player skill-centric and competitive gameplay.

This means that once the game is released, players will no longer be able to rely on the system's AI to automatically intercept the ball; they will have to switch players more frequently for manual defense.

To successfully defend, players must improve their ability to anticipate passing routes, control the timing of pressing, and make precise manual tackles.

    2. Attacking Spatial Awareness

FC 27 introduces Attacking Spatial Awareness and Curved Underlap, which are perfectly applicable in FUT.

Teammates on the attacking end can more intelligently identify defensive gaps and passing intentions, no longer mechanically attacking in straight lines. Instead, they will automatically make inward cuts, overlapping runs, or even curved runs behind the passing line based on the position of their defensive teammates to avoid being offside.

Based on this gameplay feature, players can utilize the new Pass & Follow Kapocs and smoother inward runs to organize more delicate and complex short passing penetrations in the middle, reducing the monotonous tactics of FC 26 where teammates' early forward runs led to invalid offsides, forcing players to resort to forced triangular passes down the flanks.

This allows passers in the lineup to have more dynamic passing options, making player cards with high playmaking intelligence more effective.

    3. 2-Phase Corner Kicks

The original set-piece mechanism of FC series has been restructured into 2-Phase Corner Kicks in FC 27, allowing players to adjust the attacking team's movement and the defender's marking in real time before the kick.

At the same time, the system has added new unbalanced dribbling defense and two-player aerial duels, making header battles more competitive and skill-based.

This means that corner kicks are no longer just about drawing a parabola and matching stats; real-time formation adjustments and tactical runs before the kick become a micro-management battle between players.

Because the duels are more realistic, players need more precise positioning and timing of jumps when contesting headers. In other words, the gameplay update in FC 27 raises the skill level required of players.

    FC 27 Deep Dives Roadmap

    Career Mode

One of FC 27's biggest advantages is its completely rebuilt Career Mode transfer market, enhanced with features from TransferRoom, making it arguably the most in-depth adjustment in the series.

    1. TransferRoom

This game introduces TransferRoom digital transfer platform, used by top FIFA clubs (such as Premier League and Serie A Enilive). Transfers are no longer just a simple backroom deal of bidding and negotiating.

Players can now view in real-time in a public digital lobby which clubs have players listed, which teams urgently need to fill specific positions, and the current market supply and demand. Based on this public information, players can actively list surplus players on TransferRoom to target clubs, and even initiate reverse offers.

    2. Multi-Dimensional Dynamic Market Value Algorithm

FC 27 completely abandons the rigid formula of calculating a player's market value solely based on Overall + Age. Market value is now dynamically calculated in real-time based on four dimensions: club financial resources, player potential, current form, and contract length.

Good morale, form, and injuries all affect a player's value, including transfers. Transferred players are often priced lower than their true worth, allowing you to sign them with a smaller budget.

For example, a young striker with an overall rating of 70+ who scores in five consecutive games and is in excellent form might see their market value skyrocket to that of an 80+ rated player; conversely, a high-rated player experiencing a long goal drought or serious injury will see their value plummet.

This means players can no longer blindly sign players based on fixed market values. You need to not only monitor players on TransferRoom but also understand their various aspects to scout for players with lower overall ratings but in their prime.

Of course, this also forces players to spend more frequently on FC 27 Coins to open packs and acquire new players to maintain rotation and form for key players in FUT; otherwise, their assets will rapidly depreciate.

    3. More Realistic Negotiation Gameplay

FC 27 has rewritten the transfer AI for computer clubs. AI managers are no longer passive waiters; they possess independent team-building philosophies and a sense of crisis.

When you express interest in a player or make an initial offer on TransferRoom, AI competitors (especially those in the same league or of similar standing) will quickly intervene, even going so far as to demand a release clause or offer a more lucrative personal deal to snatch the player away.

During player sales negotiations, AI managers are also quite difficult to deal with. They will dynamically adjust their asking price based on whether their team can acquire a more promising replacement, and may even propose bundled deals involving multiple players plus cash.

Given this change in AI, players must be more decisive and discreet during the transfer window. Traditional tactics of undercutting prices and delaying deals will directly result in the loss of the target player.

Therefore, players should prepare several backup plans during negotiations, increasing the excitement of deadline days and fostering strategic thinking within Manager Career Mode gameplay.

The above summarizes the main gameplay content for FC 27 at July 29th Deep Dive. August Deep Dive will primarily focus on showcasing the new FUT Gallery and explaining in detail how to unlock exclusive rewards by collecting and recording player rosters from past and present games, as well as live demonstrations of The Grounds and Clubs.

Several more Deep Dives are expected before the game's official launch on September 25th to give players a basic understanding of all the gameplay mechanics.
